Jon Curtis, crime manager, said would-be thieves are often simply looking for a crime of opportunity or an easy mark. Although there is no surefire way to predict or prevent these crimes, there are ways police and residents can work together on prevention. Here are a few simple tips: •Keep your car doors, house doors, windows and garage doors locked; •Remove all valuables from your car; •Remove your garage door opener from your car; •Do not leave keys in your vehicle or in your garage; •Keep vehicle windows rolled up; •Do not leave your keys hanging in the open near your garage; •Call 911 to report any suspicious activity or crimes in progress.
