10 Best Home Security of 2017

Home security systems detect intruders in your home, and subsequently alert the proper authorities. They usually include wall and window sensors, motion detectors, video cameras, and yard signs. In 2013, the average home invasion rate was four per minute. Purchasing a home security system is the best option for protecting your belongings and safety. When choosing a home security system, it is important to consider additional features.

Frequent add-ons include fire, smoke, carbon monoxide, and flooding detection. Another additional feature, home automation, allows the user to remotely control all home security features. If you decide to purchase a comprehensive home security system with all the add-ons, you'll be protected not only from intruders, but from all other manner of potential threats. As with any major financial decision, it's important to thoroughly research a few different companies and read through home security system reviews. Most home security providers will conduct an on-site inspection and offer a quote with different coverage options.

Verify what all the costs are, including monthly fees, equipments costs, and whether there is an installation fee. Before finalizing your home security system purchase, take the time to verify the company's reputation, their customer support, and get written cancellation policies and auto renewals.

American Civil Liberties Union

Privacy today faces growing threats from a growing surveillance apparatus that is often justified in the name of national security. The government's collection of this sensitive information is itself an invasion of privacy. Innocuous data is fed into bloated watchlists, with severe consequences-innocent individuals have found themselves unable to board planes, barred from certain types of jobs, shut out of their bank accounts, and repeatedly questioned by authorities. Once information is in the government's hands, it can be shared widely and retained for years, and the rules about access and use can be changed entirely in secret without the public ever knowing. Our Constitution and democratic system demand that the government be transparent and accountable to the people, not the other way around.

History has shown that powerful, secret surveillance tools will almost certainly be abused for political ends and turned disproportionately on disfavored minorities. The ACLU has been at the forefront of the struggle to prevent the entrenchment of a surveillance state by challenging the secrecy of the government's surveillance and watchlisting practices; its violations of our rights to privacy, free speech, due process, and association; and its stigmatization of minority communities and activists disproportionately targeted by surveillance.

The Edward Snowden Interview Closed-circuit television In recent years, the use of body worn video cameras has been introduced as a new form of surveillance, often used in law enforcement, with cameras located on a police officer's chest or head. Video surveillance has generated significant debate about balancing its use with individuals' right to privacy even when in public. Special cameras for some of these purposes include line-scan cameras and thermographic cameras which allow operators to measure the temperature of the processes. With the addition of fixed cameras for the active traffic management system, the number of cameras on the Highways Agency's CCTV network is likely to increase significantly over the next few years. The cameras send the feed to a central control center where a producer selects feeds to send to the television monitors that fans can view.  New York C...

Security company in Bellevue vandalized

BELLEVUE, Neb. (KMTV) - An Omaha home security company based out of Bellevue is using its own camera to help track down a thief who stole items from outside their building. Chris Malmberg, the owner of Omaha Security Systems Inc. says an unidentified man stole nearly $300 worth of landscaping Sunday night. "The motion sensors went off and I got a notification on my phone that he was there. We saw him take the plants, we watched him drive away and then immediately contacted police," said Malmberg. "He was real nervous, but he ended up stealing shrubbery, Hosta plants, I mean - never in my life have I ever known somebody to steal landscaping." Malmberg said the plants could be replaced, but what's frustrating is that this is one of several vandalism incidents his business has experienced since OSSI moved into the building near Jefferson and Mission Ave. "We've had vandalism, we've had items stolen, or attempted to be stolen, with the security that we...
