Security cameras are extremely necessary for homes but most of us feel that it costs too much to purchase them and have them installed in our homes and then there will also be maintenance cost involved. Here is how you can turn your old smartphone into a home security camera: Step 1: Get a security camera app running on your old phone(s) Download a security camera app on your old phone. There are a lot of apps available on Google Play Store easily and most of them are free. Once you download the app, register yourself on the app or create an account by putting some basic details in the app. Step 2: Choose a spot to position your camera This step will require a lot of considerations. You may want to place the phone at a place from where you can cover a lot of area of the room that you are installing it in. Most people prefer putting the camera in rooms where they keep a lot of valuables and outside the main door. Step 3: Mount and power your new security camera(s) To mount up your old phone, you will need a tripod stand or a suction cup based on where you would like to place the phone. Streaming video is very power-intensive, and the phone will be on 24-7. To prevent the phone from dying due to low battery, you will need to position it close to a power source.
